Firmware update
The latest firmware will always be available at www.keene.co.uk./ircommander.
The current firmware of your module is displayed at the bottom of the “overview” tab on the module's web page and also on the Java program utilties menu as shown below.
If the firmware version number is higher on the keene site then download the zip file and extract the new file.
Launch the utilities page from the "View" drop down menu
And follow the firmware upload procedure. If there is more than one module present on the network check that the correct IP address has been detected and again that the firmware version you are uploading is newer then the one displayed.
Click on the “browse” button to locate the downloaded file. (be patient, it can take a while for the browse window to initialise). If the file is correct then the “upload” button will become active. Check again that the target IP address matches that of the module you wish to update and click “upload”. You will see the data transfer message at the bottom of the screen followed by” success” if the operation went smoothly. If you see a “fail” message then check your IP address and firewall settings.
Note - updating the firmware will reset everything on the module to the factory default settings. The IP will revert to 192.168.1.31, DHCP will be initialised and any IR codes stored within the modules will also need to be uploaded again. (see shadowfile)
Note - usually when you click the button to upload the file the amber ACK light on the unit will come on. This indicates that the module has been put into re-boot by the software. If this doesn't happen then one short press of the reset button will reboot the module and allow communication with the upload software.
Important if updating from a firmware version lower than 1.8 you will need to do a full reset at this point. disconnect the power supply, press and continue to hold down the reset button whilst you re-connect the power supply. Release after 10 seconds and the unit will reset.
If the embedded web pages have changed since your firmware release (check the version.txt file in the download) you will also need to update these after the firmware.
Make sure you unit is connected to the network and type (or copy and paste) http://MATRIX/protect/WebUpload.htm into the address bar of your web browser. You can replace the word "MATRIX" with the IP address of your module if you like (http://192.168.1.31/protect/WebUpload.htm). If you have changed the Hostname of your unit replace "Matrix" with your host name. You will have to enter the user name and password. Defaults are user name = Keene and password = Electronics (both start with a capital) Follow the instructions on screen to browse to the new .bin file (this will be the Matrix x.xx.bin file) and press upload. Again this will take about 20 seconds.
